Removal





HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

HINT
Before disconnecting the cable, set the air conditioning control switch to DEF-MODE. (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)

2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

3. REMOVE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the multi-media interface ECU assembly Removal.

4. REMOVE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET

(a) Remove the stereo component amplifier assembly with bracket Removal.

5. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the lower instrument panel sub-assembly Removal.

6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly Removal.

7. REMOVE WATER GUARD PLATE RH Removal

8. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL Removal

9. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT RH Removal

10. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column)

(a) Remove the steering post assembly Removal.

12. REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column)

(a) Remove the steering post assembly Removal.

13. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and slide the hook connector.





(b) Disconnect the suction pipe assembly.

(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

14. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

(b) Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

15. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.





NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

16. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE

(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.





NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

17. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 HEATER REGISTER BEZEL (for LH Side)

(a) Disengage the 4 claws as shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the 2 screws and rear No. 1 heater register bezel.





18. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 HEATER REGISTER BEZEL (for RH Side)

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

19. REMOVE REAR NO. 6 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 2 guides and 4 claws, and remove the rear No. 6 air duct.





20. REMOVE REAR NO. 5 AIR DUCT

HINT
Use the same procedure for the rear No. 5 air duct and rear No. 6 air duct.

21. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 2 claws to open the 2 door scuff plate clamps as shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the 2 clips.

(c) Disengage the guide and 2 fasteners.

(d) Disengage the 2 claws and turn back the floor carpet as shown in the illustration.

(e) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 4 air duct.





22. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the claw.





(b) Disengage the guide and remove the front floor caution plate cover as shown in the illustration.

(c) Disengage the 2 claws to open the 2 door scuff plate clamps as shown in the illustration.





(d) Remove the clip.

(e) Disengage the guide and 2 fasteners.

(f) Disengage the 2 claws and turn back the floor carpet as shown in the illustration.

(g) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 3 air duct.





23. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.





24. REMOVE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System) Removal

25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FLOOR BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and instrument panel to floor brace sub-assembly.





26. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT

(a) Remove the 3 clips and No. 2 heater to register duct.





27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Removal

28. REMOVE BACK-UP BATTERY WITH BRACKET (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch)

(a) Remove the 2 bolts.





(b) Disengage the clamp and disconnect the connector to remove the back-up battery with bracket.





29. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the center airbag sensor connector from the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

(e) Disconnect each connector.

(f) Disengage each clamp.

(h) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

30. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY Removal

31. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

(b) Disengage each clamp.

(c) Remove the screw.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

32. REMOVE LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage each clamp.





(b) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the lower defroster nozzle assembly.





33. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and center instrument panel to cowl brace.





34. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY

(a) Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 instrument panel stay.





35. REMOVE AIR DUCT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and air duct assembly.





36. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH

(a) Disconnect each connector.





(b) Disengage the clamp.

(c) Remove the 2 nuts, bolt and ECU integration box RH.





37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 screws.

(b) Disconnect each connector.

(c) Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

(d) Disengage each clamp.

(e) Remove the 8 bolts and instrument panel reinforcement assembly.





38. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.





39. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT

(a) Remove the clip and No. 4 heater to register duct from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.





40. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:
* Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
* When disassembling the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.

(a) Disengage each clamp.





(b) Disengage the drain cooler hose.

(c) Remove the bolt, nut and air conditioning unit assembly.





(d) Disengage the clamp and disconnect the connector.
