B2520 - Roof Lock Switch Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The removable roof lock sub-assembly (roof front lock switch) detects the lock/unlock state of the roof panel. The switch sends a signal to the sliding roof control ECU assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Before starting troubleshooting, check that there are no mechanical problems.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ROOF LOCK SW)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Retractable Hardtop (Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

NG -- INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

2. INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH)

(a) Check that the wire harness of the roof front lock switch has not been pinched by the body.

(b) Disconnect the e2 connector.

OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the e2 and P53 connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK MOTOR)

(a) Disconnect the e1 connector.

(b) Apply battery voltage and check operation of the roof front lock motor.

OK:

OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the e1 and e2 connectors.

(b) Apply battery voltage to the motor connector and measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:
