B2523 - Roof Position Switch No. 1 Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The No. 1 roof half open switch, which is located in the No. 2 roof panel strength sub-assembly, detects that the roof is half open. The switch sends a signal to the sliding roof control ECU assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Before starting troubleshooting, check that there are no mechanical problems.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ROOF POSITION SW NO. 1)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Retractable Hardtop (Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

NG -- INSPECT NO. 2 ROOF PANEL STRENGTH SUB-ASSEMBLY (NO. 1 ROOF HALF OPEN SWITCH)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

2. INSPECT NO. 2 ROOF PANEL STRENGTH SUB-ASSEMBLY (NO. 1 ROOF HALF OPEN SWITCH)

(a) Check that the wire harness of the No. 1 roof half open switch has not been pinched by the body.

(b) Disconnect the A connector.

OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR LH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the Q40 and Q36 connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR)

(a) Disconnect the Q40 and A connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR)
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT NO. 2 ROOF PANEL STRENGTH SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Reconnect the A connector.

(b) Disconnect the Q40 connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NOTICE:
Manually move the roof to the position in the table below Procedures.
