B253B - Back Window Panel Lock Switch Abnormal Operation

DESCRIPTION

The back window lock assembly (roof rear lock switch) detects the lock/unlock state of the back window panel which changes according to sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (roof rear lock motor) operation. The back window lock assembly (roof rear lock switch) sends this signal to the sliding roof control ECU assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Before starting troubleshooting, check that there are no mechanical problems.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK WINDOW PANEL LOCK SW)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

NG -- CHECK BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY (ROOF REAR LOCK SWITCH)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

2. CHECK BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY (ROOF REAR LOCK SWITCH)

(a) Check that the wire harness of the roof rear lock switch has not been pinched by the body.

(b) Disconnect the f2 connector.





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

HINT
Check that the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly does not stick or bind when it is rotated.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY (ROOF REAR LOCK SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the f2 and Q35 connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the f1 and f2 connectors.





(b) Apply battery voltage to the motor and measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NOTICE:
Disconnect the battery immediately after the back window lock operation stops.

HINT
Apply battery voltage to the motor and measure the resistance when the motor stops rotating.
