CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: P1615: Communication Error from Distance Control ECU to ECM
P1615 - Communication Error from Distance Control ECU to ECM

DESCRIPTION

The distance control ECU receives information about the area in front of the vehicle from the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly and then sends a brake control demand signal (deceleration demand) and diagnosis signals, such as millimeter wave radar sensor assembly grime signals or millimeter wave radar sensor assembly malfunction signals, to the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When the distance control ECU or ECM is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed Installation.

PROCEDURE

1. CONFIRM DESIGNATION INFORMATION

(a) Confirm the designation information.

(1) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(2) Turn the cruise control main switch on.

(3) With the brake pedal depressed, push the cruise control main switch to +RES 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the skid control buzzer sounds at this time.

OK:

The skid control buzzer sounds. (Initialization is performed.)

NOTICE:
- Do not turn the light control switch on at this time because the beam axis automatic adjustment mode has already started, which could lead to incorrect beam axis. If the light control switch is turned on by mistake, readjust the beam axis (refer to page for beam axis adjustment) Adjustments.
- If initialization cannot be performed, first inspect the stop light switch circuit, cruise main switch circuit, and skid control buzzer circuit.

NG -- REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P1615)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Clear the DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.

(e) Perform the following to make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

HINT
If the detection conditions are not met, the malfunction cannot be detected.

(1) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 50 km/h (30 mph) or more.

(2) Turn the cruise control main switch on.

(f) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Radar Cruise / Trouble Codes.

(g) Read the DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.

Result:

B -- REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

A -- END

3. REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

(a) Replace the distance control ECU Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

Result:

C -- REPLACE ECM (for 4GR-FSE) Removal

B -- REPLACE ECM (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

A -- END
