Keyless Entry Transmitter Battery: Service and Repair





DOOR LOCK: TRANSMITTER BATTERY: REPLACEMENT

1. REPLACE TRANSMITTER BATTERY (for Standard)

NOTICE:
Take extra care when handling these precision electronic components.

(a) Push and hold the release knob in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. Then take the mechanical key out of the case.





(b) for Type A:

(1) Insert a precision screwdriver into the gap and turn the screwdriver to detach the cover.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(2) Insert a precision screwdriver into the gap and remove the battery (lithium battery: CR1632).





NOTICE:
* When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical transmitter from being damaged.
* Do not push the terminals with your finger.
* Do not forcibly pry up the battery (lithium battery) because doing so will deform the terminals.
* Do not touch the battery with wet hands. Water may result in corrosion.
* Do not touch or move any components inside the transmitter because handling the components may interfere with proper operation of the transmitter.

(3) Install a battery (lithium battery: CR1632) with the positive (+) side facing upward, as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
* When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical transmitter from being damaged.
* Do not bend the electrodes while installing the battery.
* Keep the interior of the transmitter case free of dust, water and oil.

(4) Install the cover by pressing down on it as shown in the illustration.





(c) for Type B:

(1) Disengage the claw and remove the slide transmitter housing cover as shown in the illustration.





(2) Remove the battery cover with 4 screws.





(3) Insert a precision screwdriver into the gap and remove the battery (lithium battery: CR1632).





NOTICE:
* When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical transmitter from being damaged.
* Do not push the terminals with your finger.
* Do not forcibly pry up the battery (lithium battery) because doing so will deform the terminals.
* Do not touch the battery with wet hands. Water may result in corrosion.

(4) Install a battery (lithium battery: CR1632) with the positive (+) side facing upward, as shown in the illustration.

* Do not bend the electrodes while installing the battery.

(5) Install the battery cover with the 4 screws.





(6) Engage the claw to install the slide transmitter housing cover as shown in the illustration.





(d) Insert the mechanical key into the transmitter.

(e) Press one of the transmitter switches and check that the LED illuminates.

2. REPLACE TRANSMITTER (CARD KEY) BATTERY (for Card Type)

(a) Lightly hold and pull the battery cover out in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Do not insert a screwdriver, etc. between the case and battery cover and forcefully bend the battery cover. This will deform the battery cover.

HINT
* If the battery cover is held too firmly, it becomes harder to pull out.
* If the cover is slippery and it is difficult to pull it out, use non-slip gloves to pull the cover out.

(b) Remove the transmitter battery (lithium battery: CR2412).





(c) Push in and install the transmitter battery (lithium battery (CR2412)) while being careful of the following: 1) the orientation of the battery positive (+) and negative (-) terminals; and 2) being sure to insert the battery between the 2 terminals and deep into the card, in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.





NOTICE:
* Insert the battery so that its positive (+) side is facing the LEXUS mark.
* Do not deform the terminals.
* If the terminals are dirty, wipe the terminals with a soft cloth before installing the battery.

HINT
Check if the card terminals are damaged or if the card interior has foreign matter.

(d) Install the battery cover so that it clips onto the case.





NOTICE:
* Push on the battery cover until its attachment hooks attach securely.
* When the battery cover is removed and installed many times, be careful as the cover may become loose.
