Removal
A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: TRANSMISSION WIRE: REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH Removal
2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH Removal
3. REMOVE NO. 1 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
4. REMOVE NO. 1 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal
5. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal
6. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)
7. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket sub-assembly.
8. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
NOTICE:
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
(a) Remove the 20 bolts, oil pan and gasket.
(b) Remove the 3 magnets from the oil pan.

(c) Examine particles in the pan.
(1) Collect any steel chips with the removed magnets.
Carefully look for foreign matter and particles in the pan and on the magnets to guess at the type of wear which might be found in the transmission.
Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and clutch plate wear
Brass (non-magnetic): bushing wear
9. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and oil strainer.
NOTICE:
Be careful as some fluid will come out of the oil strainer.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.

10. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and temperature sensor clamp, and separate the ATF temperature sensor.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 clamps.
(c) Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.
11. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE
(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
(b) Remove the bolt and pull out the transmission wire.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the transmission wire.
