B2288 - Steering Lock Signal Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when the power source control ECU cannot detect the unlock condition of the steering lock within a specified time.

HINT
When the power source control ECU is replaced with a new one and the negative (-) battery terminal is connected, the power source mode becomes IG-ON mode. When the battery is removed and reinstalled, the power source mode that was selected when the battery was removed is restored.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Smart Access System With Push-Button Start (for Start Function).

(b) Check for DTCs 18 to 22 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

Result:

2. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Check for Steering Lock System DTC.

3. CHECK STEERING LOCK

(a) Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).

OK:

The steering lock is released.

NG -- GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM (STEERING LOCK CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED) Steering Lock System
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control ECU / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

HINT
When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, turn on and off any of the door courtesy light switches repeatedly at 1.5-second intervals or less until communication between the Techstream and vehicle starts.

"ON" (Steering is unlocked) and "OFF" (Steering is locked) appear on the screen according to vehicle operating conditions.
