B252C - Back Window Panel Position Switch Abnormal Operation

DESCRIPTION

The slide roof motor assembly (back window panel half open switch) detects that the back window panel is half open. The switch sends a signal to the sliding roof control ECU assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Before starting troubleshooting, check that there are no mechanical problems.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK WINDOW PANEL POSITION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Retractable Hardtop (Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

NG -- INSPECT SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW PANEL HALF OPEN SWITCH)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

2. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW PANEL HALF OPEN SWITCH)

(a) Check that the wire harness of the back window panel half open switch has not been pinched by the body.

(b) Disconnect the P57 connector.

OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the P57 and P53 connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW LINK ARM RH)

(a) Disconnect the P57 connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NOTICE:
Manually move the roof to the position in the table below Procedures.

Standard Resistance:
