B2531 - Luggage Door Open Switch Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The luggage compartment door hinge assembly RH (luggage door open switch RH) detects whether the luggage door is fully open or not and sends a signal to the sliding roof control ECU assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Before starting troubleshooting, check that there are no mechanical problems.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE DOOR OPEN SW)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Retractable Hardtop (Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE RH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE RH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the P58, P59 and P53 connectors.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY RH (LUGGAGE DOOR OPEN SWITCH RH)

(a) Replace the luggage compartment door hinge assembly RH (luggage door open switch RH).

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Operate the retractable hardtop system.

(b) Recheck for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B2531 is not output.

NG -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY

OK -- END (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE RH WAS DEFECTIVE)
