1. System Operation Condition

(a) The retractable hardtop system operates when all of the following conditions are met:

(1) Engine switch is on (IG).

(2) Vehicle speed is 3 km/h (2 mph) or less.

(3) Luggage compartment door opener main switch is not set to disable opener operation.

(4) Tonneau cover switches are on (tonneau cover is fully extended and installed in the slots in the rear of the luggage compartment).

(5) Luggage compartment door is closed (luggage rear lock detection switch is on).

(6) Battery voltage is normal.

(7) No obstacles are within 1 m (3.28 ft) of the rear bumper (for models with intuitive parking assist system, when system operation is permitted).

2. System Operation Check

NOTICE:
* Make sure that initialization for the power window control system is completed before inspection Initialization.
* Check the surroundings to make sure that the area is safe to perform an inspection that includes driving the vehicle.
* Check the surroundings to make sure that the area is safe to operate the roof and be careful not to get your hands caught when operating the roof or windows.
* When inspecting the retractable hardtop related control function of the intuitive parking assist system, read Notice and Caution for the intuitive parking assist system Intuitive Parking Assist System. Check that the customize function "Intuitive P/A Interlock" and "Intuitive Parking Assist System" are on before performing a related inspection.
* Check that the customize function "Flasher Relay" is on before performing inspection.

(a) Start the engine.

(b) Check that the roof opens fully when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated in the open direction while the roof is fully closed. Check that the buzzer sounds right before the roof operates (roof front lock is unlocked) and when the luggage compartment door is closed (at half latch timing).

(c) Check that the roof closes fully when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated in the close direction. Check that the buzzer sounds when the roof starts close operation and when the luggage compartment door is closed.

(d) When the hazard switch is turned on with the roof fully opened, check that the flasher relay sound is larger than when the hazard switch is turned on with the roof fully closed.

3. Multi-information Display Check

(a) Check that the roof operation image and progress indicator bar are displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly when a roof open/close operation is performed while the roof is at fully closed or open position by operating the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) without any interruptions.

(b) Check that the progress indicator bar is not displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is released and then operated again while performing a roof open/close operation. Check that the "OPERATING" is displayed when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated after the roof is fully opened or closed.

4. Warning Display Check

(a) Check that the message "ROOF HALF OPEN STOP VEH. SAFELY, PLEASE COMPLETE OPERATION" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds intermittently when the vehicle speed reaches 4 km/h (3 mph) or more with the roof half open.

(b) Check that the message "ROOF HALF OPEN PLEASE COMPLETE OPERATION" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds intermittently when the vehicle speed reaches 4 km/h (3 mph) or more with the roof half open.

(c) Check that the message "FUNCTION NOT AVAILABLE WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds for 10 seconds continuously when the engine switch is turned off while the roof is half open.

(d) Check that the message "SET LUGGAGE COVER" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds twice when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated with the engine switch on (IG) and the tonneau cover not extended.

(e) Check that the message "CLOSE TRUNK LID" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds twice when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated with the engine switch on (IG) and the luggage compartment door open or not fully closed.

(f) Check that the message "TURN TRUNK LID OPENER MAIN SWITCH ON" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds twice when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated when the engine switch is on (IG) with the luggage compartment door opener main switch set to disable luggage compartment door opener operation (the button is protruding).

5. Warning Display Check (Intuitive Parking Assist System)

HINT
* The sliding roof control ECU determines whether it is possible to fully open the luggage compartment door on models with the intuitive parking assist system when the customize function "Intuitive P/A Interlock" is set to on.
* Obstacles located within 240 mm (9.44 in.) of the back sonar sensors and within 180 mm (7.08 in.) of the corner sonar sensors may not be detected.

(a) Check that the message "OBSTACLE BEHIND VEHICLE, FUNCTION NOT AVAILABLE" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds twice in the following two situations:

(1) The first time the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated while an obstacle is detected within the close detection range when the engine switch is on (IG).

(2) The luggage door stops opening because an obstacle is detected within the close detection range when the engine switch is on (IG).

(b) Check that the message "WARNING, OBSTACLE BEHIND VEHICLE" is displayed on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly and that the buzzer sounds once when the engine switch is on (IG) with the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) operated while an obstacle is detected within the medium detection range. Also check that the message is displayed and the buzzer sounds when the roof control switch (sliding roof switch assembly) is operated again within 2 seconds after operation is disabled because an obstacle is detected within the close detection range.
