Fuel Injector (for Port Injection)

2GR-FSE FUEL: FUEL INJECTOR (for Port Injection): INSPECTION

1. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect injector resistance.

(1) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Standard Resistance:

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.

(b) Inspect the injection volume.

CAUTION:
This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity. Take all precautions regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electricity. Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flames. Do not smoke.

(c) Remove the fuel pipe clamp.

(d) Disconnect the fuel tube.

(e) Connect SST to the fuel pipe (the vehicle side).

CAUTION:
Install a strong rubber tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing.

(i) Operate the fuel pump (turn the engine switch on (IG)).

(j) Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

Injection volume:

72 to 75 cc (4.4 to 4.6 cu.in.) per 15 seconds

If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

(k) Check for leakage.

(1) In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.

Standard fuel drop:

1 drop or less in 24 minutes

If there is excessive leakage, replace the injector.
