DESCRIPTION

The sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) receives switch slide and tilt signals and drives its built-in motor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* When the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) is reinstalled or replaced, the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly must be initialized Initialization.
* Since the sliding roof system has functions that use BEAN communication, first confirm that there is no malfunction in the communication system by inspecting the BEAN communication functions in accordance with the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure. Then, conduct the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SLIDING ROOF OPERATION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Sliding Roof / Active Test.

(e) Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

Sliding Roof

OK:

Sliding roof operates normally.

NG -- INSPECT FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Sliding Roof / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

Sliding Roof

OK:

The Techstream display changes according to switch operation as shown in the table.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF ECU - SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF ECU) Disassembly

3. INSPECT FUSE

(a) Remove the S/ROOF and ECU-IG LH fuses from the cowl side junction block LH.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF ECU - BATTERY, BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the R6 ECU connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF ECU - LH-IG2 RELAY)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

NG -- INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF ECU) Disassembly

6. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Remove the map light assembly (sliding roof switch assembly) Removal.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY) Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF ECU - SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Standard Voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY) Removal

8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF ECU - SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the R5 switch connector.

(b) Disconnect the R6 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Remove the map light assembly (sliding roof switch assembly) Removal.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY) Removal

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF ECU) Disassembly
