Transmission Control Switch Circuit
AA80E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM: Transmission Control Switch Circuit
- Transmission Control Switch Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The transmission control switch detects when the shift lever is moved to M.
Using the transmission control switch, when the shift lever is in M, it is possible to select between 1st and 8th gears (M1 to M8).
Moving the shift lever to "+" once selects the next higher gear, and moving the shift lever to"-" once selects the next lower gear.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector Disassembly.
(b) Turn the engine switch off.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance between each terminal of the transmission control switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH Disassembly
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM)
(a) Connect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
(e) Turn the engine switch off.
(f) Disconnect the spiral cable connector.
(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
