P0108 - Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P0106 P0106.
HINT
When DTC P0107 or P0108 is detected, check the manifold absolute pressure by selecting Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP on the Techstream.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The hybrid vehicle control ECU monitors the sensor voltage and uses this value to calculate the manifold absolute pressure. When the sensor output voltage deviates from the normal operating range, the hybrid vehicle control ECU interprets this as a malfunction in the manifold absolute pressure sensor and sets a DTC.
Example:
When the sensor output voltage remains less than 0.5 V, or more than 4.5 V for 0.5 seconds, the hybrid vehicle control ECU sets a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
4. Turn the power switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
5. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
6. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode) Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
7. Start the engine and wait 5 seconds or more.
8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
9. Read the pending DTCs.
HINT
- If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
11. Input the DTC: P0107 or P0108.
12. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
13. If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The hybrid vehicle control ECU records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MAP)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP.
(e) Read the MAP value.
OK:
Same value as the actual atmospheric pressure.
HINT
Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa(abs) (758 mmHg(abs)). For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). The pressure also varies due to the weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).

2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(d) Reconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
Result:

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR - HYBRID ECU)
(a) Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):
Standard Resistance (Check for Short):
(d) Reconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
(e) Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU Removal
4. REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR
(a) Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (P0107 OR P0108)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
(c) Clear the DTC and turn the power switch off.
(d) Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(f) Read the DTCs.
