Removal





A760H AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

2. DRAIN COOLANT

for 4GR-FSE: Testing and Inspection

for 2GR-FSE: Testing and Inspection

3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

4. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

for 4GR-FSE: Removal

for 2GR-FSE: Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR (for 4GR-FSE) Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

7. REMOVE OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH (for 4GR-FSE) Removal

8. REMOVE OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

9. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 4GR-FSE) Removal

10. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FSE) Removal

11. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER

(a) Remove the flywheel housing side cover from the engine assembly.





12. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT

(a) Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.





(b) Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench and remove the 6 torque converter clutch setting bolts.

13. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Move the shift lever to N.

(b) Remove the nut and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly.





14. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.





15. SEPARATE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and separate the rear engine mounting member from the body.





16. SEPARATE CONNECTOR

(a) Remove the bolt and earth wire from the automatic transmission assembly.





(b) Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.





(c) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector, transmission wire connector and 2 transmission revolution sensor connectors.





HINT
Disengage the claw, press down the lever and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

17. SEPARATE WIRE HARNESS

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and separate the wire harness clamps from the automatic transmission assembly.





18. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Remove the bolt and water by-pass hose clamp.





(b) Separate the 2 water by-pass hoses from the transmission oil cooler.

NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the water by-pass hoses.

19. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission with transfer assembly.





20. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 3 nuts and rear engine mounting member from the rear No. 1 engine mounting insulator.





21. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and rear No. 1 engine mounting insulator from the automatic transmission assembly.





22. REMOVE TRANSFER DYNAMIC DAMPER

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and transfer dynamic damper from the automatic transmission assembly.





23. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER LH

(a) Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever LH from the automatic transmission assembly.





24. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, transmission oil cooler and spacer from the automatic transmission assembly.





(b) Remove the 2 O-rings from the spacer.

(c) Remove the 2 O-rings from the transmission oil cooler.

25. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Put matchmarks on the torque converter and transmission case.





(b) Remove the torque converter from the automatic transmission assembly.

26. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY Testing and Inspection
