Rear Axle Hub
AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Disassembly
3. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 DISC BRAKE CALIPER PLATE Removal
4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
5. REMOVE REAR DISC Removal
6. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for looseness near the center of the rear axle hub.
Maximum looseness:
0.05 mm (0.00196 in.)
NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for runout on the surface of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly outside the rear axle hub bolt.
Maximum runout:
0.05 mm (0.00196 in.)
NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
8. INSTALL REAR DISC Installation
9. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
10. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 DISC BRAKE CALIPER PLATE Installation
11. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Reassembly
12. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE
Adjustments.
13. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
