Installation





WINDOW / GLASS: BACK WINDOW GLASS: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING

(a) Apply Primer G to the installation part of a new back window outside moulding.

HINT
If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

(b) Install the new back window outside moulding onto the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

Standard Dimension:





NOTICE:
* Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
* Do not apply too much primer.

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

2. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM

(a) Apply Primer G to the installation part of a new back window glass adhesive dam.

HINT
If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

(b) Install the new back window glass adhesive dam onto the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

Standard Dimension:

* Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

3. INSTALL BACK WINDOW LOWER OUTSIDE MOULDING

(a) Apply Primer G to the installation part of a new back window lower outside moulding.

HINT
If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

(b) Align the notch of a new back window lower outside moulding with the ceramic notch of the window glass.

NOTICE:
* Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
* Do not apply too much primer.

(c) Remove the release paper from the center to the ends, then align the back window lower outside moulding with the back window glass (*a) and install the back window lower outside moulding.

HINT
* Make sure that the ends of the moulding do not stick out beyond the corners of the back window glass.
* Make sure to press the moulding firmly after installation.

4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW UPPER OUTSIDE MOULDING

(a) Apply Primer G to the installation part of a new back window upper outside moulding.

HINT
If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

(b) Align the notch of a new back window upper outside moulding with the paint mark of the back window lower outside.

NOTICE:
* Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
* Do not apply too much primer.

(c) Remove the release paper carefully from the center to the ends, then align the back window lower outside moulding with the back window upper outside moulding (*a) and install the back window upper outside moulding.

HINT
* Make sure that the ends of the moulding do not stick out beyond the corners of the back window glass.
* Make sure to press the moulding firmly after installation.

5. INSTALL REMOVABLE ROOF GARNISH LH

(a) Clean the vehicle body surface.

(1) Wipe off any residue of butyl tape or double-sided tape from the back window frame upper sub-assembly installation surface.

(b) Align a new removable roof garnish LH with the alignment positions of the back window frame upper sub-assembly.

(c) Remove the release paper of the double-sided tape downward carefully as shown in the illustration, and then temporarily install the removable roof garnish LH.

HINT
Make sure to press the moulding firmly after installation.

(d) Remove the release paper of the butyl tape carefully from the outer side of the vehicle, and then install the removable roof garnish LH.

HINT
* Make sure to press the moulding firmly after installation.
* First start installation from the double-sided tape side, and then install the butyl tape side.

6. INSTALL REMOVABLE ROOF GARNISH RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

7. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS

(a) Using a brush, coat the installation surface on the vehicle body with Primer M.

NOTICE:
* Do not coat the adhesive with Primer M.
* Do not apply too much primer.
* Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.

HINT
If an area other than specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

(b) Using a brush or sponge, coat the adhesive application area with Primer G.

NOTICE:
* Do not apply too much primer.
* Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

HINT
If an area other than specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

(c) Apply adhesive to the glass.

Adhesive:

Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

(1) Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.





Standard Dimension:





HINT
After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table below.

Usage Time Frame:





(2) Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

(3) Apply adhesive to the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

(d) Remove the release paper of the butyl tape attached to the removal roof garnish without touching the exposed adhesive.

(e) Install the back window glass assembly.





(1) Install the back window glass assembly with the 4 clips

NOTICE:
* Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
* Check that the clips are attached to the body correctly.
* Check the clearance between the body and glass.

(2) Lightly press the front surface of the back window glass to ensure a close fit.

HINT
Press the glass with force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

(3) Hold the back window glass using protective tape until the applied adhesive becomes hard.

NOTICE:
Do not drive the vehicle for the time described in the table below.

Minimum Time:





(f) Install the 2 nuts.





(g) Install the ends of the back window outside lower moulding to the removable roof garnish as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Make sure to press the moulding firmly after installation.

(h) Connect the 2 back window defogger connectors.





8. INSTALL BACK WINDOW PACKING

(a) Install the back window packing.





9. INSTALL QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

10. INSTALL QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

11. INSTALL REAR ROOF HEADLINING GARNISH

(a) Engage the 5 clips to install the rear roof headlining garnish.





12. INSTALL ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH

(a) Engage the 2 claws and 4 clips to install the roof side inner garnish LH.





13. INSTALL ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

14. CLOSE METALTOP ROOF

(a) Close the metaltop roof.

15. INSPECT FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR

(a) After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.

(b) If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.

(c) Remove the protective tape.
