Removal





AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE REAR WHEELS

2. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

(a) Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential filler plug and gasket.

(b) Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the differential drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.

3. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR Removal

4. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

Perform the same procedure as the No. 2 differential support protector.

5. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH Removal

6. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH

Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

7. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

Removal

8. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH Removal

10. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and disengage the 2 clamps.





(b) Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer.

17. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

26. LOOSEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER BOLT (for LH Side) Removal

38. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the rear differential carrier assembly with a jack.





NOTICE:
Do not drop the differential carrier.

(b) Using a hexagon wrench (12 mm), remove the 3 hexagon bolts.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 lower rear differential mount stoppers and rear differential carrier assembly.





(d) Remove the 2 upper rear differential mount stoppers from the rear differential carrier assembly.

NOTICE:
Make sure not to install the upper and lower rear differential mount stoppers upside down.
