P0A1F-129
L110F HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0A1F-129, P0AFC-129: Battery Energy Control Module
P0AFC-129 - Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module
DESCRIPTION
The battery smart unit (battery energy control module) sends HV battery voltage information to the hybrid vehicle control ECU via serial communication.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The hybrid vehicle control ECU calculates the differences between the received HV battery voltage, boost converter voltage, and inverter voltage. If any of the differences exceed prescribed values, the hybrid vehicle control ECU determines that there is a malfunction in the battery smart unit circuit. When the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects this malfunction, it will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.
MONITOR STRATEGY
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS
TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS
COMPONENT OPERATING RANGE
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
4. Turn the power switch off.
5. Turn the power switch on (READY) and turn the Techstream on.
6. With the shift lever in D, depress both the accelerator pedal and brake pedal at the same time to raise the SOC to a sufficient level. [A]
7. With the shift lever in P, check that the engine is stopped.
8. Set the A/C for maximum cooling.
9. Leave the vehicle for a few minutes.
HINT
During this step, make sure that the engine is stopped. If the engine starts, restart from [A].
10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
11. Check that the permanent DTCs are cleared.
12. If the permanent DTCs are not cleared, perform the universal trip, and then check for permanent DTCs again.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Performing the check procedures for a long time with the shift lever in the N position may cause DTC P3000-388 to be set.
HINT
If, after performing troubleshooting, it is necessary to replace the battery smart unit, voltages need to be confirmed after installing a new battery smart unit. To confirm normal operation, compare the HV battery voltage (PWR RESOURCE VB), pre-boost voltage (VL), and post-boost voltage (VH) in the data list with the power switch on (READY) and the shift lever in the N position. When the system is normal, the PWR RESOURCE VB, VL, and VH values should be almost equal (voltage boosting will not occur when the shift lever is in neutral). If the difference between each voltage exceeds the values specified below, there is a malfunction in the battery smart unit.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Check if DTCs are output.
Result:
HINT
- *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic flowchart.
- P0A1F-129 or P0AFC-129 may be set due to a malfunction which also causes DTCs in the preceding table to be set. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the preceding table. Then, perform a test to attempt to reproduce the problems, and check that no DTCs are output.
