Removal





AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT (for Front Side): REMOVAL

1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

3. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire) Removal

4. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal

5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:





* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

6. REMOVE TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt.





(b) Remove plate, as shown in the illustration.

(c) Disconnect the suction tube and liquid tube.

NOTICE:
* Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the tube.
* Seal the opening of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.






(d) Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction tube and liquid tube.

7. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE

(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip.





(b) Disconnect the heater water inlet hose.

8. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

HINT
Disconnection of the heater water outlet hose is the same as for the heater water inlet hose.

9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD

(a) Remove the instrument panel safety pad Removal.

10. REMOVE AIR DUCT





(a) Remove the bolt.

(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

11. REMOVE AIR DUCT





(a) Remove the screw.

(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

12. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the steering column assembly Removal.

13. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly Removal.

14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the clamps, connectors and wire harness.

(b) Remove the bolts and nuts, and disconnect the ground wire and junction block.

(c) Remove the 9 bolts and 2 screws.





(d) Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts (passenger side) and 3 bolts (driver side).

HINT
The "TORX" bolts on the passenger side can be removed with the collar for adjustment.

(e) Passenger side:

Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 collars and instrument panel reinforcement with spacer.





15. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT

(a) Remove the nut and air conditioning unit.
