Computers and Control Systems: Service Precautions

2UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: PRECAUTION

1. PRECAUTIONS FOR INSPECTING HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM

(a) Before inspecting the high-voltage system, take safety precautions to prevent electrical shocks, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.

NOTICE:
Do not put the vehicle into the power switch on (READY) state with the service plug grip removed as this may cause a malfunction.

(b) After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals.

HINT
At least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.

2. PRECAUTIONS FOR HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVATION

(a) When the warning light is illuminated or the auxiliary battery has been disconnected and reconnected, attempting to put the vehicle into the power switch on (READY) state the first time may not start the system. If so, turn the power switch off and reattempt to put the vehicle into the power switch on (READY) state.

3. FOR USING TECHSTREAM

CAUTION:
Observe the following items for safety reasons:

* Read its instruction books before using the Techstream.

* Prevent the Techstream cable from being caught on the pedals, shift lever and steering wheel when driving with the Techstream connected to the vehicle.

* When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the Techstream, 2 persons are required. One drives the vehicle and the other operates the Techstream.

4. DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT CABLE OF NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Before performing electronic work, disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal in order to prevent it from shorting and burning out.

NOTICE:
After the power switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, wait 6 minutes or more disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

(b) Before disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cable, turn the power switch off and the headlight dimmer switch OFF. Then loosen the terminal nut completely. Do not damage the cable or terminal.

(c) When the battery cable is disconnected, the clock and radio settings and stored DTCs are erased. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery cable, make a note of them.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the battery cable, some systems need to be initialized after the battery cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
