DTC B1666 - Driver Seat Recliner Output Circuit Failure

B1666-1 - Rerun Test

- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Turn ignition switch OFF. These two steps "wake up" the driver seat module.
- Open driver side door. This disables delay accessory function.

NOTE: Seat will move a short distance in each direction during self-test.

- Execute self-test.
- Inspect seat track and make sure that all obstructions are removed.
- Rerun self-test.

Is DTC B1666 still present?

YES GO to B1666-2.
NO System operating normally.

B1666-2 - Check For Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes

- Make sure ignition switch remains OFF.

Are DTCs B1663, B1664 and B1665 also set?

YES GO to Pinpoint Test B.
NO GO to B1666-3.

B1666-3 - Test Motors

- Press driver seat recline forward switch for 2 seconds.
- Press driver seat recline rearward switch for 2 seconds.
- Press driver seat recline forward switch for 2 seconds.

Does motor move for 1 second, then stops before switch is released?

YES GO to B1666-4.
NO SERVICE circuit918 (GY) and 919 (GY/BK) to motor for open. SERVICE motor. SERVICE seat track sticking. RETEST system.

B1666-4 - Test Potentiometer Feedback For Open

- Using a voltmeter, carefully back probe recline potentiometer input circuit 445 (O/LB) on pin C3-3 of driver seat module connector for voltage.

Is voltage reading 0.5 - 4.5 volts, but does not change when associated motor is moved?

YES SERVICE potentiometer. MAKE SURE potentiometer is seated properly on rear of motor. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1666-5.

B1666-5 - Test Potentiometer Feedback For Short/Open Circuit

- Back probe recline potentiometer input circuit 445 (O/LB) on pin C3-3 of driver seat module connector for voltage.

Is voltage reading less than 0.5 volt?

YES SERVICE circuits 445 (O/LB) and 449 (BR/PK) into potentiometer for open or short to ground. LEAVE probe connected. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1666-6.

B1666-6 - Test Potentiometer Feedback For B+

- Check probe still connected to circuit 445 (O/LB) on pin C3-3 of driver seat module connector.

Is voltage 4.5 - 5 volts?

YES SERVICE circuit 452 (GY/R) for open circuit. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE driver seat module. RETEST system.
