Pinpoint Test H: Up/Down Lifting operation Does Not Work Properly

H1 - Check seat Motor Upward/Downward Operation

- Disconnect power motor connection.
- Using a jumper wire connected to battery positive, connect other end to driver seat switch connector pin 2, circuit 983 (R/LG), passenger seat switch connector pin 2, circuit 989 (R/LG).
- Using a second jumper wire, connect one end to pin 3, circuit 982 (Y/LG) driver seat, pin 3, circuit 988 (Y/LG) passenger seat, momentarily connect other end to a known good ground.
- Observe motor operation as jumper wire is grounded
- Reverse jumper wires and observe motor operation

Did seat move properly?

YES LEAVE jumper wires connected to supply, being careful to not touch ground. GO to H2.
NO REPLACE power seat motor assembly. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

H2 - Check Power Seat Motor Tilting Circuits

- Reconnect power seat motor.
- Disconnect seat regulator control switch.
- Using a jumper wire connected to battery positive, connect other end to driver seat switch connector pin 3 (Town Car), 2 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 983 (R/LG), passenger seat switch connector pin 3 (Town Car) 2 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 989 (R/LG).
- Using a second jumper wire, connect one end to driver seat switch connector pin 4 (Town Car), 8 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 982 (Y/LG), passenger seat switch connector pin 4 (Town Car), 8 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 988 (Y/LG), momentarily connect other end to a known good ground.
- Observe motor operation as jumper wire is grounded. Reverse jumper wires and observe motor operation.

Did seat move properly?

YES TEST power seat switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE suspect circuit for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
