DTC B1340: Chime Input Request Short To Ground

B1340-1 - Check Instrument Cluster Type

- Check for electronic instrument cluster.

Does vehicle have an electronic instrument cluster?

YES G0 to B1340-2.
NO GO to B1340-4.

B1340-2 - Perform Lighting Control Module Self Test

- Make sure all doors are fully closed to second latch.
- During self test make sure that no new warnings are displayed on instrument cluster.
- Rerun self test.

Is DTC B1340 still present?

YES GO to B1340-3.
NO System operating normally.

B1340-3 - Check Instrument Cluster Function

- Disconnect connector C1 from electronic instrument cluster.
- Rerun self test.

Is DTC B1340 still present?

YES SERVICE Circuit 183 (T/Y) for short to ground. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REPLACE electronic instrument cluster. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

B1340-4 - Check For Police Vehicle Status

- Check vehicle to see if equipped for police vehicle status.

Is vehicle equipped for police vehicle status?

YES GO to B1340-5.
NO GO to B1340-6.

B1340-5 - Check For Dark Car Mode

NOTE: Dark car mode allows the vehicle to be entered without the interior courtesy lamps turning on. With Dark Car Mode enabled, the courtesy lamps will operate only with the dome lamp switch.

Does police department owning vehicle require dark car mode?

YES System operating normally.
NO REMOVE ground from Circuit 183 (T/Y). After ground has been removed recycle power to module by disconnecting then reconnecting battery ground cable. Dark car mode will not be disabled until power is cycled.

B1340-6 - Check Chime Function

- Enter Diagnosuc Data Link.
- Enter LCM - Lighting Control Module.
- Enter PID/DATA Monitor and Record.
- Select the PID: CHIMERQ - Chime Request.

Does PID read OFF?

YES REPLACE lighting control module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO REMOVE ground from circuit 183 (T/Y). After ground has been removed recycle power to module by disconnecting then reconnecting battery ground cable. Dark car mode will not be disabled until power is cycled.
