B1514 - Driver Door Handle Switch Short To Ground

DTC B1514: Driver Door Handle Switch Short To Ground

B1514-1 - Make sure driver door handle is closed

- Make sure the driver door handle is fully seated.
- Clear DTC.
- Rerun on-demand self test.

DTC B1514 still present?

YES GO to B1514-2.
NO SYSTEM operating normally. Continuous fault would be set if the door handle was up for more than two minutes. CHECK handle and switch to make sure that they operate smoothly without sticking.

B1514-2 - Test Town Car Circuit 930 (P/LG) or Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis Circuit 456 (W/LB)

- Disconnect connector C2 from driver door module.
- Carefully probe pin C2-7 on driver door module for continuity with ground.

Is there continuity?

YES GO to B1514-3.
NO REPLACE driver door module. RETEST system.

B1514-3 - Test Switch

- Disconnect driver door handle switch.
- Carefully probe pin C2-9 on driver door module for continuity with ground.

Is there continuity?

YES GO to B1514-4.
NO SERVICE door handle switch for stuck switch. RETEST system.

B1514-4 - Test Passenger Switch

- Disconnect passenger side door handle switch.
- Carefully probe lighting control module connector pin C2 pin 7 circuit 930 (P/LG) Town Car or Circuit 465 (W/LB) Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis with an ohmmeter to chassis ground.

Is there continuity?

YES SERVICE circuit 930 (P/LG) Town Car or 465 (W/LB) Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis for short to ground.
NO REPLACE passenger side door handle switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
