DTC B1566: Door Ajar - Short To Ground

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.

B1566-1 - Rerun Test

- Make sure that all doors are closed to second latch.
- Repeat on-demand self-test.

Is DTC B1566 still present?

YES GO to B1566-3.
NO GO to B1566-2.

B1566-2 - Make Sure That Switch Is Not Sticking

- Set NGS tester to read P_DR_LC PID.
- Open and close doors several times. Test passenger front and both rear doors.

Does PID show that doors are open and closed as expected?

YES System operating normally.
NO REPLACE door open warning lamp switch in door that was sticking. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.

B1566-3 - Check Door Lock Cylinder Switch PID

- Set NGS tester to read P_DR_LC PID.

Does PID show "CLOSED"?

YES REPLACE lighting control module. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1566-4.

B1566-4 - Check Passenger Side Front Door Open Warning Lamp Switch

- Disconnect passenger front door open warning lamp switch.
- Set NGS tester to read P_DR_LIC PID.

Does PID show "CLOSED"?

YES REPLACE passenger front door open warning lamp switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1566-5.

B1566-5 - Check Passenger Side Rear Door Open Warning Lamp Switch

- Disconnect passenger side rear door open warning lamp switch.
- Set NGS tester to read P_DR_LIC PID.

Does PID show "CLOSED"?

YES REPLACE passenger side rear door open warning lamp switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO GO to B1566-6.

B1566-6 - Check Driver Side Rear Door Open Warning Lamp Switch

- Disconnect driver side rear door open warning lamp switch.
- Set NGS tester to read P_DR_LIC PID.

Does PID show "CLOSED"?

YES REPLACE driver side rear door open warning lamp switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE circuit 627 (BK/O) for short to ground. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
