PINPOINT TEST H: INCORRECT TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATION

Test H1-H2:

Test H2-H4:

Normal Operation
Normal engine operating temperature is 140°F (60°C) to 248°F (120°C). Redline starts at 249.8°F (121°C). The cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor unit monitors the coolant temperature at the cylinder head and is hardwired directly to the powertrain control module (PCM) through circuit 8-RJ33 (WH/VT) and circuit 9-RJ33 (BN/WH). The status of the engine coolant temperature is sent from the PCM to the instrument cluster over the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network, circuits 4-EG8 (GY/VT) and 5-EG8 (BU/WH). The instrument cluster DTC U1073 will be logged if the instrument cluster fails to receive the engine temperature status from the PCM.

Possible Causes
- circuit 8-RJ33 (WH/VT) open, short to power or ground
- circuit 9-RJ33 (BN/WH) open, short to power or ground
- CHT sensor unit
- powertrain control module (PCM)
- instrument cluster
