Normal Operation
The restraint control module is hardwired to the instrument cluster through circuit 31S-JA14 (BK/GN). When the restraint control module (RCM) detects a system concern, a DTC will be set and the restraint control module will remove the ground to the instrument cluster to turn on the AIR BAG warning indicator. RCM DTC B1869 will be set if circuit 31S-JA14 (BK/GN) is open or shorted to ground. RCM DTC B1870 will be set if circuit 31S-JA14 (BK/GN) is shorted to power.

Possible Causes
- circuit 31S-JA14 (BK/GN) open, short to ground or short to power
- RCM
- instrument cluster
