G: C1277/C1278 Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Circuit Failure/Faulted

Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1277/C1278 Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Circuit Failure/Faulted
Normal Operation
The steering wheel rotation sensor monitors the steering wheel position when the toothed wheel on the steering shaft passes through its magnetic field.
Steering wheel rotation (in degrees) is sent to the anti lock brake system (ABS) module through circuit 8-CC18 (WH/RD) and circuit 10-CC17 (GY). Voltage is supplied by the ABS module through circuit 7-CC1 (YE/RD). Ground is provided by the ABS module through circuit 9-CC1 (BN/RD).

Possible Causes
^ sensor signal circuit 8-CC18 (WH/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ sensor signal circuit 10-CC17 (GY) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ sensor power circuit 7-CC1 (YE/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ sensor ground circuit 9-CC1 (BN/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ steering wheel rotation sensor
