PINPOINT TEST A: THE KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLYA1-A3:
A4-A6:
Normal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes circuit 30S-GM7 (RD/WH) to the instrument cluster. The 12 volt input signals the instrument cluster that the key is inserted. If the instrument cluster detects that the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position with the key inserted in the ignition key cylinder and the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime (located in the instrument cluster) sounds.
Possible Causes
- circuit 30S-GM7 (RD/WH) open
- ignition switch
- instrument cluster
