Pinpoint Test J: DTC C1989: Park Brake Apply And Release Switch Contacts Energized Simultaneously

Normal Operation
The electronic parking brake (EPB) 2-way motor receives power from circuit 32-CGI9 (WH/VT) or 33-CGI9 (YE/VT), depending on the direction of the motor revolution. When the EPB is applied, circuit 32-CGI9 (WH/VT) is equal to the battery voltage and circuit 33-CGI9 (YE/VT) is equal to 0 volts. When the EPB is released, 32-CR19 (YE/VT) is equal to 0 volts and 33-CT19 (YE/VT) is equal to battery voltage. Otherwise, both circuits are at one half of the battery voltage.

Possible Causes
^ 8-CG15 (WH/BU) short
^ 10-CG15 (GY/VT) short
^ 9-CG20 (BN/WH) short
^ EPB switch
^ EPB module
