Normal Operation
The parking aid system is disabled when the operator selects parking aid disable through the message center. The parking aid system remains disabled until either the ignition key is cycled from OFF to RUN, or parking aid enable is selected through the message center. A constant voltage signal is supplied to the parking aid module by the message center on circuit 1435 (DG/VT). When the operator disables the parking aid system through the message center, circuit 1435 (DG/VT) is momentarily grounded which changes the operational state of the parking aid module to OFF. If voltage on circuit 1435 (DG/VT) drops below 1.5 volts for longer than 10 seconds, diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C1985 is set.

Possible Causes
- circuit 1435 (DG/VT) open or short to ground
- parking aid system wiring harness
- message center switch
- instrument cluster
- parking aid module
