Pinpoint Test G: The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) Is Completely Inoperative (Vehicles Without Navigation)
Normal Operation
The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) receives voltage through circuit SBP14 (BN/RD), and ground through circuit GD114 (BK/BU). The ignition switch position message is sent to the FDIM by the Smart Junction Box (SJB) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN).
Button press information is also sent from the FDIM to the Audio Control Module (ACM) via the MS-CAN. If the FDIM screen operates correctly but the FDIM buttons are inoperative, Go To Pinpoint Test I. Pinpoint Test I: An Individual Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) Display Is Inoperative (Vehicles Without Navigation)
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- FDIM
PINPOINT TEST G: THE FDIM IS COMPLETELY INOPERATIVE (VEHICLES WITHOUT NAVIGATION)
-------------------------------------------------
G1 CHECK FOR SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH THE FDIM
- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.
- Does the scan tool communicate with the FDIM?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
-------------------------------------------------
G2 CHECK FOR CORRECT FDIM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the FDIM connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the FDIM connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new FDIM. REFER to Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) - Without Navigation Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) - Without Navigation.
TEST the system for normal operation.
