Pinpoint Test H: The Delayed Accessory is Inoperative - Will Not Stay On For 10 Minutes
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
The delayed accessory feature allows the power windows, radio and roof opening panel (if equipped) to function for up to 10 minutes after the ignition is turned OFF or until any door is opened. The delayed accessory function is controlled by the Lighting Control Module (LCM). The LCM, when awake, supplies a ground for the accessory delay relay coil through circuit 194 (PK). When the ignition switch is turned from ON to OFF, the LCM begins the timing sequence. If a door is opened, the LCM turns off the accessory delay function. If the ignition switch is turned to another position, the LCM also cancels the delayed accessory function.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Accessory delay relay
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LCM
PINPOINT TEST H: THE DELAYED ACCESSORY IS INOPERATIVE - WILL NOT STAY ON FOR 10 MINUTES
-------------------------------------------------
H1 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY INPUT AT THE LCM
NOTE: The key should be cycled by reaching through the driver side window.
- Open the driver window and close all doors.
- Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 85, circuit 194 (PK), harness side and ground.
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Is the resistance less than 60 ohms for 10 minutes, then cycle to greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
The system is operating normally at this time.
No
GO to H2.
-------------------------------------------------
H2 CHECK THE LCM FOR DTCs
- NOTE: If unable to communicate with the LCM, go to Information Bus.
- Retrieve and record LCM self-test and continuous DTCs.
- Are any LCM DTCs recorded?
Yes
REFER to Body Control Systems to continue diagnosis.
No
GO to H3.
-------------------------------------------------
H3 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new LCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
