Pinpoint Test D: DTC U1197

Normal Operation
- DTC U1197 (SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Door Locks) - sets when the Lighting Control Module (LCM) receives invalid data from the Driver Door Module (DDM).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Module communication
- LCM
- DDM


PINPOINT TEST D: DTC U1197

D1 VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN


- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition.

D2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the DDM pass the network test?

Yes
GO to D3.

No
REFER to Module Communications Network Testing and Inspection.

D3 CHECK FOR DDM DTCs


- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DDM Self-Test.
- Carry out the DDM self-test.
- Are any DDM DTCs present?

Yes
REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Testing and Inspection.

No
GO to D4.

D4 RECHECK THE LCM DTCs


NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the LCM self-test.
- Is DTC U1197 still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to Lighting Control Module (LCM) Lighting Control Module (LCM). TEST the system for normal operation.

If DTC U1197 is still present, INSTALL a new Driver Door Module (DDM). REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition.
