Pinpoint Test H: Easy Exit/Easy Entry Does Not Operate Correctly
The easy exit/easy entry feature moves the seat rearward about 51 mm (2 in) when the ignition key is removed and returns the seat forward when the ignition key is inserted. The feature is enabled and disabled using the message center menu selections.
The Instrument Cluster (IC) module sends KEY IN / KEY OUT PID data to the module communication circuits. The Driver Seat Module (DSM) receives the data and commands output voltage and ground to the power seat motor assembly to move the seat. The DSM monitors the horizontal position sensor and stores the seat tracks position to return for easy entry. The DSM will cancel operation if the seat track is at the end of travel or a seat control switch or memory recall button is pressed.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Easy entry/exit feature is not enabled
- Missing status information (network communication bus messages) to the DSM:
- ignition switch position
- Transmission Range (TR)
PINPOINT TEST H: EASY EXIT/EASY ENTRY DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
NOTE: Verify good battery condition before diagnosing the memory seat system. Poor battery condition may interfere with memory seat operation, even if vehicle starting is possible.
NOTE: The selector lever must be in PARK and the driver seat must be at least 51 mm (2 in) from its rear stopping point for the easy entry/exit feature to function.
NOTE: The DSM monitors ignition switch position and transmission range position status messages communicated across the communication network. This information is required for correct memory seat operation. Ignition switch position and transmission gear selector status should be verified by using a scan tool to monitor the available PID data before proceeding with memory seat diagnosis.

H1 CHECK THE EASY ENTRY/EXIT FEATURE AND POWER SEAT TRACK HORIZONTAL OPERATION
- Operate the seat fully forward and rearward with the switch to verify the power seat track operates correctly.
- Position the driver seat at least 51 mm (2 in) from the rear stop point.
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the key from the ignition and check for rearward seat movement of approximately 51 mm (2 in).
- Remove the key from the ignition switch, exit the vehicle and close the door.
- After 10 seconds, open the driver door, sit in the driver seat, close the door and check for forward seat movement of approximately 51 mm (2 in).
- Does the easy entry/exit feature operate correctly and seat track operate correctly using the seat control switch?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
No
If the power seat track horizontal movement does not operate correctly using the seat control switch, GO to Symptom Chart for diagnosis. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
Otherwise, GO to H2.

H2 CHECK THE EASY ENTRY / EXIT PROGRAMMABLE PARAMETER IS ENABLED
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Module Programming - Programmable Parameters - Power Seats - Easy Entry / Exit - (DSM) = Enabled.
- Use a scan tool and verify the Easy Entry / Exit is Enabled.
- Is Easy Entry / Exit Enabled?
Yes
GO to H3.
No
SELECT ENABLE on the scan tool to activate the feature. TEST the system for normal operation.

H3 CHECK FOR DSM DTCs
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - DSM.
- Are any DTCs present?
Yes
REFER to Driver Seat Module (DSM) DTC Chart for DSM DTC diagnosis. Driver Seat Module (DSM) DTC Chart
No
GO to H4.

H4 CHECK FOR LCM DTCs
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - LCM.
- Are any LCM DTCs present?
Yes
REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Testing and Inspection to diagnose the LCM concern.
No
GO to H5.

H5 CHECK THE IGNITION KEY IN/OUT (IGN_KEY) PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DataLogger - LCM.
- Monitor the LCM IGN_LCM PID with the ignition key in and with the key removed.
- Does the PID agree with the switch positions?
Yes
GO to H6.
No
To diagnose the key-in-ignition warning switch fault, REFER to Instrumentation, Message Center, and Warning Chimes Testing and Inspection.

H6 CHECK THE TR PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DataLogger - PCM.
- Operate the transmission gear selector in all positions while monitoring the PCM PID TR values.
- Does the PID state agree with the selected transmission gear PARK position?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
No
