Pinpoint Test Z: The DOOR AJAR Warning Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

When any door is open and the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the Driver Door Module (DDM) sends the Instrument Cluster (IC) a message over the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communication network to display the door ajar message.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Interior lamps concern
- DDM
- IC


PINPOINT TEST Z: THE DOOR AJAR WARNING IS INOPERATIVE

Z1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR LAMPS


- Open and close each door and monitor the interior lamps.
- Do the interior lamps operate correctly?

Yes
GO to Z2.

No
REFER to Interior Lighting Testing and Inspection.

Z2 MONITOR THE DDM PIDs


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DDM DataLogger.
- NOTE: The passenger door ajar PID sets when the RF passenger door, LR passenger door or RR passenger doors are ajar.
- Select the DDM driver door ajar PIDs (D_DR_SW) and passenger door (P_DR_SW). Monitor the DDM PIDs while opening and closing the doors.
- Do the PIDs agree with the door position?

Yes
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
INSTALL a new DDM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
