Removal and Installation
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, Safety Canopy(R) or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition is ON.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
1. Position the driver seat all the way back and up.
2. Position the passenger seat all the way forward.
3. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures information.
4. Disconnect the seat position sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the seat position sensor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
6. Remove the seat position sensor.
- Press the sensor tab inward to release and remove the seat position sensor.
7. Remove the seat position sensor bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
8. Remove the bracket.
- Slide the bracket rearward to release the front tab to remove.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
