Pinpoint Test O: The Auto-Unlock Does Not Operate Correctly
Normal Operation
The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module energizes the unlock relay based upon input from the ajar switches and the vehicle speed signal. The RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module receives the vehicle speed signal from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). The RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module unlocks the doors when the following conditions are met:
- The vehicle speed has exceeded 20 km/h (12 mph) then dropped to 0 km/h (0 mph)
- The ignition is switched to the OFF or ACC mode
- The LH front door is opened within 10 minutes of the ignition being switched to the OFF or ACC mode
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Door ajar switches
- Vehicle speed signal
- RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module
PINPOINT TEST O : THE AUTO-UNLOCK DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
O1 CHECK THE AUTO-UNLOCK CONFIGURATION
- Check to see if the auto-unlock is enabled. Refer to Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming .
Is auto-unlock enabled?

REFER to Lighting and Horns.
O3 CHECK THE VEHICLE SPEED OPERATION
- Check the operation of the speedometer.
Does the speedometer operate correctly?
Yes
GO to O4.
No
REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
O4 CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA (Remote Function Actuator) MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
