Removal and Replacement
PROPELLER SHAFT REAR (4X2) REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.
2. Index the propeller shaft to rear companion flange.

NOTE:Make sure the index marks on the extension housing and the propeller shaft are aligned before separation.
NOTE:After removing the propeller shaft, place an index mark on the transmission output shaft that matches the transmission extension housing mark.
Index-mark the propeller shaft and the extension housing.
4. Remove and discard the 4 rear axle flange bolts.
- Upon installation, install new bolts and tighten to 112 Nm (11.4 kgf-m, 83 lb-ft).

NOTE:The propeller shaft flange fits tightly on the rear axle pinion flange pilot. Never hammer on the propeller shaft or any of its components to disconnect the propeller shaft flange from the pinion flange. Pry only with a suitable tool to disconnect the propeller shaft flange from the pinion flange.Using a suitable tool, separate the propeller shaft flange from the rear axle pinion flange
6. Lower the propeller shaft and slide the propeller shaft rearward out of the transmission.
7. Plug the extension housing to prevent fluid loss.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
