Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

FUEL INJECTION SUPPLY MANIFOLD AND FUEL INJECTOR - 4.0L REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
WARNING:Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
CAUTION:If the supply manifold is used as a leverage device, damage can occur to the supply manifold. Care must be taken when working around the supply manifold.
1. Remove the intake manifold. See - Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling.

NOTE:One electrical connector shown, the other five are similar.Disconnect the six fuel injector electrical connectors.
1. Remove the four bolts and the fuel injection supply manifold.
2. If necessary, remove the four fuel manifold supply tube-to-fuel rail bolts and the fuel manifold supply tube. Discard the O-ring seals.Tightening torque:6 Nm {53 in-lbi}
3. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel injection supply manifold.
4. Remove and discard the fuel injector O-ring seals.

NOTE:Lubricate the new fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.To install, reverse the removal procedure.
