Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair





TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AW6A-EL, AW6AX-EL]

WARNING:
- A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before replacing the ATF.

CAUTION:
- Water or foreign material entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to allow water or foreign material on the connector when disconnecting.
- Do not damage the terminals.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

3. Drain the ATF. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement

4. Remove the TCM. Service and Repair

5. Remove the resonance chamber. Service and Repair

6. Remove the control valve body. Service and Repair

7. Remove the coupler component lock plate.






CAUTION:
- Do not damage the wiring harness.
- Do not pull hard on the wiring harness.

8. Remove the coupler component from the transaxle case.

9. Remove the O-ring and the gasket from the coupler component.






10. Apply ATF to a new gasket and install it on the coupler component.

CAUTION:
- Do not apply ATF to the O-ring.

11. Install a new O-ring to the coupler component.






CAUTION:
- Do not apply too much force to the coupler component.
- Do not damage the coupler component.

12. Install the coupler component to the transaxle case.

13. Install a new coupler component lock plate.






14. Install the control valve body. Service and Repair

15. Install the resonance chamber. Service and Repair

16. Install the TCM. Service and Repair

17. Add ATF to the specified level. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement

18. Install the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

19. Connect the negative battery cable.

20. Perform the neutral position learning. Programming and Relearning

21. Perform the mechanical system test. Mechanical System Test
