ABS Main Relay: Testing and Inspection

ABS RELAY INSPECTION


Fail-Safe Relay Inspection (Including Harness To ABS Control Module)

1. Turn the ignition switch to off and disconnect the ABS control module connector.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

3. Connect terminal 2J of the control module connector to a ground.





4. Verify the illustrated points.





5. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and the Fail-Safe Relay.


Fail-Safe Relay Inspection

1. Measure the resistance between terminals A and B of the fail-safe relay connector.

Resistance: 60 - 100 ohms








2. Inspect for continuity between the relay terminals.

3. If not as specified, replace the fail-safe relay.


ABS Motor Relay Inspection (Including Harness To ABS Control Module)

1. Inspect the fail-safe relay.

2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and disconnect the ABS control module connector.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

4. Connect terminal 2J to ground.

5. Connect terminal 2H to ground.





6. Verify the illustrated points.

CAUTION
^ Allowing the motor to operate for more than two seconds will damage the motor.






7. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and the ABS Motor Relay.


ABS Motor Relay Inspection

1. Measure the resistance between terminals A and B of the ABS relay connector.

Resistance: 50 - 90 Ohms








2. Inspect for continuity between the relay terminals.

3. If not as specified, replace the ABS motor relay.
