Air Register: Service and Repair

VENTILATOR GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING: Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module.

Driver's Side
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
1. Front scuff plate inner (driver's side)
2. Front side trim (driver's side)
3. Side wall
4. Front console
5. Hood release lever
6. Lower panel
7. Meter hood
8. Lower column cover
9. Driver-side air bag module
10. Steering wheel
11. Instrument cluster
12. Duct
13. Steering shaft






4. Remove the screws at A in the figure.






5. Remove the screw.
6. Pull the dashboard face outward to secure a space.
7. Pull the ventilator grille out.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Passenger's Side
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
1. Front scuff plate inner (passenger's side)
2. Front side trim (passenger's side).
3. Side panel (passenger's side)
4. Side wall
5. Front console
6. Glove compartment
7. Center panel module (vehicles with audio unit)
8. Center panel (vehicles without audio unit)
9. Climate control unit (vehicles with car-navigation system)
10. Car-navigation unit (vehicles with car-navigation system)
11. Dashboard center panel (vehicles without car-navigation system)
12. Duct
13. Passenger-side air bag module
14. Dashboard garnish






4. Remove the screws at A in the figure.
5. Remove the screw.






6. Pull the dashboard face outward to secure a space.
7. Pull the ventilator grille out.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Center
1. Remove the following parts:
1. Side wall
2. Front console
3. Center panel module (vehicles with audio unit)
4. Center panel (vehicles without audio unit)
5. Climate control unit (vehicles with car-navigation system)
6. Dashboard center panel (vehicles without car-navigation system)






2. Remove the screw.
3. Pull the center ventilator grille outward and detach clips A.
4. Remove the center ventilator grille.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
