Shifter M/T: Service and Repair




MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the following parts:
a. Battery duct, battery, battery box, battery tray and PCM component Removal and Replacement

b. Heat insulator (Front)

c. Shift lever knob






d. Boot panel Front Console Removal/Installation

e. Front console Front Console Removal/Installation

f. Rear blower unit (vehicle with rear blower unit) Rear Blower Unit Removal/Installation (Basic System)

4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

6. After installation, verify that the shift lever can be shifted smoothly into each position.










Main Shift Cable and Main Select Cable Removal Note

1. Remove the both shift cable end and select cable end using a fastener remover.






Select Cable Installation Note

1. Make sure that the shift lever (transaxle side) is in neutral.

2. Push the safety lock, then unlock the lock piece of the select cable in the order shown in the figure.






3. Shift the sift lever to neutral.

4. Lock the lock piece of the selector cable in the figure.






5. Shift the shift lever from neutral to other position, and make sure that there are no other components in that area to interfere with the lever.

- If the shift lever cannot be shifted from neutral to other positions, or if other parts interfere with the shift lever, the selector cable may not be adjusted correctly.
It this happens, readjust selector cable from Step 1.
