Seat Cushion: Service and Repair
SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
WARNING:
- Handling a seat (with built-in side air bag) improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings before handling a seat (with built-in side air bag). Air Bag System Service Warnings
CAUTION:
- After removing a seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the seat is installed.
- Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a seat.
- When performing the procedure with a seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.
- When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS after installing the passenger's seat. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
- When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS.
Driver-side
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. Removal and Replacement
4. Remove the seat. Seat Removal/Installation
5. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the side air bag wiring harness. (See Side Air Bag Connector Disconnect Note)
6. Remove the bolts, then remove the seat cushion.
7. Detach hook A as shown in the figure in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.
8. Detach hook B in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure.
9. Detach hook C in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure.
10. Detach hook D in the direction of arrow (4) shown in the figure.
11. Remove the seat cushion trim and the seat cushion pad from the seat cushion frame as a single unit.
12. Remove rings C in the order of (5), (6), (7), (8) and (9) as shown in the figure, then remove the seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad in the direction of arrow shown in the figure.
13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Passenger-side
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. Removal and Replacement
4. Remove the seat. Seat Removal/Installation
5. Remove the seat side cover. Seat Side Cover Removal/Installation
6. Cut the bands securing the wiring harness.
7. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the side air bag wiring harness. (See Side Air Bag Connector Disconnect Note)
8. Remove rings C.
9. Detach hook A in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.
10. Detach hook B in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure.
11. Detach hook C from hook D in the direction of arrow (3) shown in the figure.
12. Remove the seat cushion trim and the seat cushion pad from the seat frame as a single unit.
13. Remove rings C in the order of (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8) as shown in the figure, then remove the seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad in the direction of arrow shown in the figure.
14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Side Air Bag Connector Disconnect Note
1. Detach the tab as shown in the figure and remove the connector from the seat connector.
