Shifter A/T: Testing and Inspection
SELECTOR LEVER INSPECTION
CAUTION:
- Water or foreign objects entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign objects on the connector when disconnecting it.
Selector Lever Inspection
1. Switch the ignition to ON.
2. Shift the selector lever to each position and inspect the selector lever.
- If there is any malfunction, adjust the selector cable. Service and Repair
a. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted as shown in the figure.
b. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted smoothly and moderately.
Selector Lever Illumination Light Inspection
1. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.
a. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
b. Remove the side wall. Side Wall Removal/Installation
c. Remove the front console component. Front Console Component Removal/Installation
d. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.
2. Inspect the continuity between the selector lever component terminals E and F.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. Service and Repair
Interlock Cable Inspection
1. Disconnect the interlock cable from the selector lever component.
2. Switch the ignition to ON.
3. Verify that the interlock cable moves smoothly when the brake pedal is depressed.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the interlock cable. Service and Repair
