Manual Transaxle Removal/Installation
MANUAL TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F35M-R]
1. Remove the battery and battery tray and battery bracket. Removal and Replacement
2. Remove the wheels and tires. Procedures
3. Remove the fresh-air duct and air cleaner component as a single unit. Service and Repair
4. Remove the EGR pipe installation bolt (intake manifold side). Service and Repair
5. Suspend the EGR pipe (intake manifold side) with a cable in place out of the way.
6. Drain the transaxle oil. Transaxle Oil Replacement
7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Add the specified amount of specified transaxle oil. Transaxle Oil Replacement
NOTE:
- If the transaxle is overhauled and installed to the vehicle, perform the "INSPECTION AFTER TRANSAXLE INSTALLATION" and verify that there is no abnormality. Inspection After Transaxle Installation
Shift Cable and Select Cable Removal Note
1. Remove the both shift cable end and select cable end using a fastener remover.
No.1 Engine Mount Removal Note
1. Remove the bolt A, B.
2. Loosen the bolt C and slide engine mount No.1 as shown in the figure.
No.4 Engine Mount Removal Note
1. Set the bracket and vacuum pipe out of the way to prevent interference with the SST as shown in the figure.
2. Using the bolts part number 99794 1025 or M10 x 1.25, length 25 mm {0.98 in} to install the SST to the position as shown in the figure
CAUTION:
- When attaching the SST in the engine rear side, install a suitable nut between the engine and the SST.
Tightening torque
- 38-51 Nm {3.9-5.2 kgf-m, 29-37 ft-lbf}
3. Install the front foot No.2 to both front shafts of the SST (49 C017 5A0).
4. Install both rear shafts of the SST to the bolt of both shock absorbers as shown in the figure
5. Set the cooler pipe out of the way to prevent interference with the front shaft of the SST as shown in the figure
6. Set the front combination light connector out of the way to prevent interference with the front shaft of the SST as shown in the figure
7. Insert front shafts into the shroud panel in the position shown in the figure
8. Adjust the positions of the SST side bars so that they are the same height (left and right) and horizontal. Make sure each joint is securely tightened
9. Apply tension to the chain to secure the engine.
10. Remove the No.4 engine mount.
Manual Transaxle Removal Note
WARNING:
- Remove the transaxle carefully, holding it steady. If the transaxle falls it could be damaged or cause injury.
1. Adjust the SST and lean the engine toward the transaxle.
2. Support the transaxle on a jack.
3. Remove the transaxle mounting bolts.
4. Remove the transaxle.
Manual Transaxle Installation Note
WARNING:
- Install the transaxle carefully, holding it steady. If the transaxle falls it could be damaged or cause injury.
1. Set the transaxle on a jack and lift into place.
2. Install the transaxle mounting bolts.
3. Adjust the SST (49 C017 5A0) so that the engine is located at the specified position.
Tightening torque
- A: 64-89 Nm {6.6-9.0 kgf-m, 48-65 ft-lbf}
- B: 38-52 Nm {3.9-5.3 kgf-m, 29-38 ft-lbf}
No.4 Engine Mount Installation Note
1. Tighten the nuts and bolts in the order of A to B.
Tightening torque
- 74-105 Nm {7.6-10 kgf-m, 55-77 ft-lbf}
No.1 Engine Mount Installation Note
CAUTION:
- Align the transaxle bolt holes and the engine mount exactly. Any misalignment can result in bolts and bolt holes becoming damaged or stripped during installation.
1. Adjust the SST (engine support), and align the hole of the No.1 engine mount with the bolt hole of transaxle.
2. Tighten the bolts in the order of A to C
Tightening torque
- A, B: 54-61 Nm {5.5-6.2 kgf-m, 40-44 ft-lbf}
- C: 43-55 Nm {4.4-5.6 kgf-m, 32-40 ft-lbf}
