Shifter M/T: Service and Repair
MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F35M-R]
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Removal and Replacement
2. Remove the battery and battery cover and battery tray and battery bracket. Removal and Replacement
3. Remove the tunnel member. Service and Repair
4. Remove the TWC. Service and Repair
5. Remove the exhaust system insulator as shown in the figure. Service and Repair
6. Remove the side wall. Side Wall Removal/Installation
7. Remove the shift lever knob as shown in the figure.
8. Remove the front console component. Front Console Component Removal/Installation
9. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
11. After installation, verify that the shift lever can be shifted smoothly into each position.
Main Shift Cable and Main Select Cable Removal Note
1. Remove the both shift cable end and select cable end using a fastener remover.
Main Cable Component Removal Note
1. Working with two people, one person pushes the ends of the shift cable and selector cable (transaxle side) toward the inside of the vehicle, and at the same time, the other person pulls out the main cable component by pulling the ends of the shift cable and selector cable (shift lever side).
Main Cable Component Installation Note
1. Working with two people, one person pushes the ends of the shift cable and selector cable (shift lever side) toward the lower side of the vehicle from the inside, and at the same time, the other person pulls the ends of the shift cable and selector cable (transaxle side), and installs the seal plate.
